Mechanical properties investigation of composite FGM fabricated from Al/Zn

Abstract This article investigates the novel mechanical behavior of metal–metal gradients (Al/Zn) functionally graded materials (FGM) type. The experimental work includes manufacture three different models (FGM 1, FGM 2, and 3) with various proportions volume fraction gradation as (100% Al–50% Zn–50% Al–100% Zn), Al–30% Zn–70% Al–70% Zn–30% Zn) respectively. annealing process was carried out to eliminate casting problems FGM. Mechanical tests such tensile hardness were performed using parameters gradient properties for each model. Hardness model by circumferential method along rod made in radial direction from core at distances. In third model, modulus elasticity ultimate strength 79 377 MPa, densities measured experimentally theoretically. results show that 3 has a 6, which is 10% more than 1 2. showed significant improvement 22% on average compared aluminum–zinc alloy. testing gives variant type due FGMs.
